Loki's AU is basically that both he and Thor fell off of the Bifrost.
Loki has been hiding them from Heimdall - mostly due to not wanting Odin to know they're still alive, which would mean he's able to use this to aggravate Thor.
Being stranded with Thor has had its good points and its bad points. Good? Thor is useful to have around, and Loki can talk him into doing almost whatever he wants him to. Bad? Thor knows exactly how to push his buttons without realising he's doing it. He still insists that he's Loki's brother, even after Loki has explained in small words how that isn't true.
And now they're on Midgard. Loki had hoped to put off a return to the realm of Thor's banishment for as long as possible, but since he's here, he's going to make the most of it.
